What you can do here
- Check something. Paste a text, email, advert or link, describe a phone call, or upload a screenshot. Our free checker looks for the warning signs scammers use and tells you in plain words what to do next. It is free and needs no account.
- Read up on scams. Our scam guides explain the most common scams, how to spot them and what to do if you have been caught. Scams this week covers warnings from official sources about scams going round now.
- Test yourself. Real or AI? is a free weekly game. Every Friday at 7am UK time there are five new pictures. You decide which are real and which were made by AI, then see the answer and the proof.
Why we do it
AI has made fakes cheap and convincing, and that cuts both ways: fakes get believed, and real things get dismissed as fake. A familiar voice on the phone or a famous face in an advert is no longer proof of anything. The best defence is to slow down and check, and to practise spotting the signs before it matters.
What makes us different
- We show our evidence. Every answer in the game and every scam check links to its sources, so you can see for yourself.
- We say what we cannot confirm. The checker never promises that something is safe. If it could not confirm something, it says so.
- We do not rely on AI detectors. They are wrong too often, in both directions.
- A person checks what we publish. We use AI tools to help find and draft material, but a person checks every scam warning and every game picture before it goes on the site. Results from the free checker are automatic and are not reviewed.
- It is free and needs no account. Your game score and streak stay in your own browser.
